Ralph Estep Jr.:

It's Spiritual Sunday, and we have a profound topic lined up for you today: breaking away from guilt and embracing conviction. Guilt can be a paralyzing force, but conviction can be a catalyst for growth. Understanding the difference between these two can be the key to financial freedom and, more importantly, spiritual peace. Stay tuned as we explore this transformative journey together.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Before we dive into today's discussion, let me give you a sneak peek into tomorrow's episode. Tomorrow, we'll be tackling the important topic of debt management versus bankruptcy. It's a conversation you don't want to miss, especially if you're struggling with heavy debt and considering what options you might have. I'll also mention that we had a great interview yesterday with the great Ral West. We talked about avoiding burnout, so I encourage you to go back and listen if you missed it. Ralph Estep Jr.:

Well, let's ground our discussion today with a verse from the Bible. This one comes from my favorite book of the Bible, Romans. It's chapter 8, verse 1. It says this: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." This is a truly powerful verse that reminds us that through Christ, we are freed from the shackles of guilt and are called to live in the light of conviction. What a beautiful blessing for today.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Guilt and conviction often get mixed up, but they are fundamentally different, folks. Guilt is a feeling of remorse over something we've done wrong, and it often leads to a sense of shame. Conviction, on the other hand, is a profound awareness of our shortcomings, coupled with the motivation to change and improve. Our guilt over financial missteps can be debilitating.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Maybe you made poor investment choices, racked up credit card debt, or failed to save adequately for emergencies. These mistakes can weigh heavily on our conscience, leading to anxiety and stress. But let's remember Romans 8:1: "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." God doesn't want us to dwell in guilt. Instead, He offers us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes and move forward with conviction.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit and leads us to repentance and transformation. It's about recognizing where we've gone wrong and taking actionable steps to correct our course. So here are a few steps to help you embrace conviction over guilt. I always want to give you action items.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number one, acknowledge your mistakes. Take an honest look at your financial decisions. It's important to admit where you've fallen short without succumbing to self-condemnation.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number two, seek God's guidance. I can't stress this enough. Pray for wisdom and strength. Ask God to help you understand His will for your finances and to guide you in making better choices. If you ask, He will do it.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number three, educate yourself. I don't know how many times I've said this on the show. Knowledge is power. Equip yourself with financial literacy. Read books, listen to podcasts just like this one, and seek advice from trusted financial advisors.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number four, create a plan. Develop a realistic and actionable financial plan. Whether it's budgeting, saving, or investing, you have to have a clear strategy in place. I talked about this on the show on Friday. The five reasons to budget, go back and listen to that if you haven't.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number five, take small steps. Change doesn't happen overnight. If you've listened to me once, you've heard me say this: life is a journey, not a destination. You have to start with small, manageable steps and gradually build on them.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Number six, surround yourself with support. Join a community of like-minded individuals who share your values and goals. These accountability partners can make a huge difference.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Let's do a bit of a recap. Today we discussed the difference between guilt and conviction, and how shifting from guilt to conviction can lead to positive financial, and more importantly, spiritual growth. Remember, guilt keeps us stuck, while conviction propels us forward.

Ralph Estep Jr.:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today with grateful hearts. Thank you for your infinite wisdom and mercy. Lord, we lift up our financial struggles to you and ask for Your guidance in navigating them. Help us to break away from the guilt that holds us back and to embrace the conviction that will lead us to positive change. Grant us the courage to acknowledge our mistakes, the wisdom to seek your guidance, and the strength to take actionable steps forward towards financial freedom. Surround us with a supportive community and fill our hearts with your peace. May we always remember that in Christ there is no condemnation, only the promise of a new beginning. Help us to use our resources wisely and for your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Ralph Estep Jr.:
